Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Manufacturing Engineering Technician provides technical support to engineers during the design of manufacturing processes for a production facility. Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision. Documentation of detailed sequential work instruction and development of method sheets.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

•  Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of processes and related equipment.

•  Solves routine technical problems.

•  Analyze operations and offer suggestions for improvement.

•  Manage multiple projects from start-up to completion.

•  Analyze drawing, specifications, and tooling to determine program input data such as hole size, 

tool size, reference points, and direction of machine cutting paths.

•  Train machine operators on operation and set up techniques and applications.

•  Interface with management, design engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing 

capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes and 

tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results. Promote "Design for 

Manufacturability" on an on-going basis with Engineering.

•  Check and interpret data from machining operations, consolidate data, prepare reports, forms and 

schedules as required.

•  Design, develop, test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for 

recommended manufacturing methods. This may include development of funding requests, scheduling 

project tasks, and managing budget. Interface with vendors to determine product specifications and 

arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.

•  Perform other related duties as assigned.

 


WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

•  Problem analysis and resolution, knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and machining 

practices.

•  Installing equipment, machines, wiring or programs to meet specifications.

•  Provides technical support to engineers during the design of manufacturing processes for a 

production facility.

•  Ability to work well with vendors, customers, and employees.

•  Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

•  Ability to collaborate and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.

•  Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance 

instructions, and procedure manuals.

•  Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small 

group situations with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or Technical School, and/or 5+ years related 

experience and/or training.
